This is a gorgeous finely handwoven huipil from the Costa Chica of Oaxaca. The huipil is woven of soft hand spun cotton. . The beautiful purple color is made from a dye called purpura that comes from a labor intensive method using sea snails. This color is seen less and less now. Huipiles from this region are difficult to come by and this is a fabulous example.
This was purchased from the artisan at asking price.
This one has these measurements:
Chest 25.5" across
Length 40"
